Nikujaga (beef and potatoes)

3 potatoes
2 carrots
3 onions
Beef/pork, as needed
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons mirin (or white wine)
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons mentsuyu (optional)
200ml water

Cut the ingredients into bite-sized pieces.
Add the meat to a frying pan with oil and fry.
Once the meat is cooked, add the carrots and onions and fry until cooked through, then add the potatoes.
Add water and seasonings and bring to a boil. Taste and adjust to your liking.
Cover the pot, then boil, then simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes and it's done.
